Annotated Bibliography Assignment
An annotated bibliography comments on the works listed in a bibliography; its purpose is to present readers with a quick summary and analysis of a particular work. After studying an entry, readers should be able to determine whether the source would be useful in helping them learn more about a particular subject. Many times students review annotated bibliographies as they begin their research in order to have a strong starting point with their sources.
For this assignment, choose any topic of your own choice and locate six sources focusing on this subject. Each annotation should be at least 3 sentences, and you will complete six annotations for your annotated bibliography.
Be sure to narrow your topic. For example, if you enjoy hunting, don’t just look for any source discussing hunting. Try to find six sources focusing on an issue such as poaching. If you love extreme sports, select one sport and then look for articles about safety. If you want to research diets, select one particular diet for your discussion.
Your annotated bibliography should consist of three parts (see the handout in Moodle as a guide):
1. Your source documented using APA format.
2. A summary of your source.
3. An analysis of your source.
