Activity 7: Global Population Projection
In this week, we discussed State Population and Development in the U.S.
The activity for this week will be to explore the change and projection of population and development from different countries in the world.
Step 1– Go to the Census Bureau International Data Base (IDB) website at https://www.census.gov/data-tools/demo/idb/informationGateway.php
Step 2– Select 5 countries from 6 different regions (North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and Oceania), make sure you select 5 countries with diverse cultural and economic background.
Step 3-Select 3 reports on “components on population growth”, “Population by Older Age Group”, “Fertility Rate”, and “Mortality Indicator by Sex”
Step 4– Select years of 2018, 2030, and 2050 for the above three reports for those 5 countries you selected.
Provide an analysis on the information from the data you generate from 2018 to 2050:
- Which 5 countries do you select from each region?
- What do these countries changed in their population from now to 2050? How does that explain by their fertility and mortality level?
- How does their older population change in the future?
