Implication and Integrity of Project

Implication and Integrity of Project

Discussion Question:

The DNP student has followed all of the project plans with approval from the college and the facility.  The preceptor comes to the student and advises the student that the new chief nursing officer (CNO) does not agree with the implementation of the Daisy Award in the facility believing that the name of the award is disparaging to members of a significant minority community.  The preceptor advises the student that even though the CNO wants the project stopped, the preceptor tells the DNP student to continue with the project, but to do so “quietly”.

Are there implications related to the integrity of the project?  Is it ethical to continue?  The risk to the student is huge as this means the student will not complete the project as a requirement for the degree and will need to begin with a new project.  As a DNP student, what actions would you consider; what actions would you take?
