Part one should be a brief summary (1-2 pages) of your chosen topic that demonstrates your ability to research and synthesize the basic concepts necessary to understand your topic. Part two should apply the normative moral theories of utilitarianism, Kant's categorical imperative, and Rawls' theory of equality to your chosen topic (3-4 pages). You should clearly state whether each theory would clearly support or oppose the practice of your chosen topic. Your application of these normative moral theories will be graded on their accuracy of the application and your ability to identify possible moral objections from these theories. Part three should apply research in psychology to describe how people, in general, are likely to make moral judgments concerning your chosen topic (3-4 pages). For example, you can describe the basics of Moral Foundation Theory (MFT) and show how liberals and conservatives might view your chosen topic based on MFT. You can also discuss the implications of the dual-process theory to your chosen topic. Your goal should be to apply as much psychological science to your chosen topic as possible so as to demonstrate your mastery of the material read during the second half of this course.
