Quantitative Research to Determine Validity and Reliability Research Methodology

Quantitative Research to Determine Validity and Reliability Research Methodology

Develop and describe an experiment or quasi-experiment – NOT a single-case evaluation design –for evaluating the identified problem area. The methodology for the study you design should contain a high degree of internal validity and scientific rigor. Most threats to internal validity should be controlled, and reasonable efforts should be made to minimize measurement bias. This proposal should provide a concise description on how the study is to be conducted in order for readers to be able to conduct the study themselves from your description. Write this section in future tense (i.e., “will do”).

  1. Research Design: Identify and describe the specific research design.
  2. Sample: Describe the sampling procedure, how the recruitment and selection process will occur, consent process, the study site (where you will find your subjects), and the projected number of subjects (n=).
  3. ProceduresDescribe the process of implementing your study. What, exactly, would you do once you have the subjects? (Be extremely specific.)
  4. Measurement: Identify at least 2 dependent variables (or 2 ways to measure one dependent variable) and 5 independent variables. Name the concepts and the variables. Provide your operational definition, identify specifically how the variables will be measured (question, scale, standardized measure, etc.), and identify the level of measurement (dichotomous, categorical, interval).

Here is the feedback I got back:

Good start here on the literature review. However, your methods section presents a qualitative study and for this assignment you have to complete a quantitative study. Therefore interviews of participants will not work. You can still address your research question with a quantitative way but giving assessments and scales on intimate relationships and behaviors. You will have to change your methodology as a whole, however. Review the final project outline in the syllabus and the rubric on CANVAS.
