PERSONAL ASSESSMENT OF CONFLICT MANGEMENT

Differences of opinion with a co-worker. Disagreements with your significant other. Arguments with relatives or friends. What do each of these scenarios have in common? Your ability to manage conflict is either effective or ineffective. How do you know if it’s effective or ineffective, and how can you learn from it? In this first discussion for the final week, you will consider areas of strength and improvement associated with your own style of conflict management based on your own experiences. Read Chapter 11 from The Interpersonal Communication Book; answer the 10 true/false statements regarding your interpersonal conflict behavior (p. 297 – 298). Then, review your results and consider whether your interpersonal conflict management skills are effective or ineffective.Initial Post: Prepare a 300-word minimum reply that sufficiently addresses each of the items below. Don’t forget that it is critical to cite your sources of information, including the textbook, using APA formatting.

  • Identify personal communication strengths and growth. Describe at least two strengths and two growth areas.
  • Consider an actual example from your own personal or professional experience where you could have been more effective. How would you go about following the conflict management steps on pp. 292-296?

Content based topics

A history of the movement you participated in

Current activism across the country related to activism your group participated in

Tactical/Process Topics

the decision making process in class

the “intensities of activism” and how people come together in activism

how effective protests are in the face of current legislation

the effectiveness of coalition building

student activism surrounding matters that are not directly about education

II. Creating an Argument

You should take a position on your topic (e.g. Are the tactics used in your movement useful? Can students create change?) and build an academic stance.

This is not (only) a narrative paper

Your experience is important. Please include your thoughts and feelings about the Day of Action if you see fit, but do not make this a reflection paper.

Always link your experiences with a larger analysis about how activism works.

This is a research paper

You are writing about what social movement scholars have to say about activism. Find research that supports your ideas about how people build movements.

*** YOU MUST INCLUDE 5 ACADEMIC SOURCES IN YOUR PAPER***

Please see the separate document “academic source guidelines” for what counts as an academic source.

China and Its Guanxi Case study

I’m stuck on a Economics question and need an explanation.

  • Why do you think it is so important to cultivate guanxi and guanxiwang in China?
  • What does the experience of DMG tell us about the way things work in China? What would likely happen to a business that obeyed all the rules and regulations, rather than trying to find a way around them as Dan Mintz does?

What ethical issues might arise when drawing on guanxiwang to get things done in China? What does this suggest about the limits of using guanxiwang for a Western business committed to high ethical standards?

1.Determine whether the following transactions involve spot exchange, contracts, or vertical integration A major oil company refines gasoline from crude oil produced by oil wells that it owns.Transcontinental, an interstate natural-gas pipeline, has a legal obligation to purchase a specified amount of gas per week from a well owned by Fred Smith in Enid, Oklahoma.A cabinetmaker purchased a dozen wood screws from the local hardware store. An electric utility purchases coal from an underground mine.2.Alpha Industries operates in a highly competitive market. While there are a few other firms in the industry due to the high fixed costs of building plants, rival firms are very aggressive in their pricing strategies. Of the products sold in the industry, over 90% have 10 years of patent protection remaining. Does this industry meet an economist’s definition of a perfectly competitive industry?3.In Savannah, Georgia, the retail gasoline market consists of 8 firms. Firm 1 has 30% of the market, Firms 2 and 3 have 20% each and the remaining firms have 6% each. What is the four-firm market concentration ratio for this industry?4.A firm has $5 million in sales, a Lerner Index of 0.75, and a marginal cost of $45, and competes against 3,000 other firms in the relevant market. a) What price does this firm charge its customers? b) By what factor does this firm mark up its price over marginal cost?5.Suppose the cost function for your firm is: C = 10 +2Q + 5Q2. If the firm sells output in a perfectly competitive market and other firms in the industry sell output at a price of $35, what level of output should the firm produce to maximize profits or minimize losses? What will be the level of profits or losses in the firm makes optimal decisions?6.Delta Airlines experienced huge losses for several years in the early 2000’s, yet it continued to operate its fleets. Why didn’t Delta shut down its operations to further avoid losses?7.You are the manager of a monopolistically competitive firm. The inverse demand curve you face is P = 50 – 4Q. Your cost function is C(Q) = 10 + 2Q. a) What level of output should you produce to maximize profits? b) What is your profits and what will happen in your market in the long run? Explain. 8.You are the manager of a hamburger joint with a marginal cost of $6.00 per hamburger. The hamburger joint is a local monopoly near campus. During the day, only students eat at the joint while in the evening only the faculty members eat there. If students have an elasticity of demand for hamburger of -4 and the faculty has an elasticity of demand of -3, what should your pricing strategy be to maximize profits?

I need help with a Health & Medical question. All explanations and answers will be used to help me learn.

It is difficult to say how we know what is right and what is wrong and I think that people in certain cases have different views on what they believe is right versus what is wrong. I think that a way many people look at right versus wrong in their life is determined by rules or laws that govern their lives. I think a person’s beliefs are formed on this topic mostly in the way they were raised or grew up and the rules they had to follow in order to know what is right or wrong. I think also that a person determines right or wrong based on their spiritual or religious beliefs as well. I know that growing up Catholic we were always taught the ten commandments which were rules which governed our lives and I do think that they are a good foundation for right vs wrong to live your life by.

Sensors”

Sensors” Please respond to the following:

  • Based on the reading from Chapter 4, briefly summarize three (3) implications, benefits, or negative aspects that you believe will impact society in a future digital world where sensors are abundant and cheap.
  • Name three (3) sensors in your phone, which you are most reliant upon, and then explain two (2) abilities this technology allows you to accomplish. Next, state two (2) technology capabilities that you believe would benefit you if placed into your smart phone; then, propose two (2) benefits these capabilities would offer you.
  • Read the article titled “Facebook to Acquire Oculus”, found at http://newsroom.fb.com/news/2014/03/facebook-to-acquire-oculus/; then, provide a response where you predict what you believe this future experience on Facebook with virtual reality might look like. In your response, be sure to talk about positive and negative implications of using virtual reality within Facebook.
