Overview

Many people are unaware of just how much they use media. It is important for us to have an awareness of the various types of media that inundate our culture and the degree to which we use those media. This is a component of media literacy.

Instructions

For this assignment, you will keep 3 days of media logs and then write a reflective essay. Please keep a daily journal that records your media use for three days. Track you use of all of the following (even if you don’t use something, please make a note of that). Keep track of the time periods when you use it and what you are using it for.

Computer—online

Computer–offline

For each day, keep a detailed record of how much time you spend using each different medium, and the purpose of the media use (e.g., talking to parents, playing music while studying, recreational TV, etc.) Keep daily logs; you may turn in your “Media Logs” as a list, a table, in columns or in whatever format you choose.

In addition to the 3 days of logs, please write a reflective essay (about 2-4 pages, double spaced) that comments on what you learned about your media use by doing this assignment.  For the essay, you may want to think about: what did you learn? did anything surprise you? did you notice any patterns in your media use? has your media use changed? why do you use some forms of media more or less? what role do you think media plays in most people’s lives?…)

FOR THIS FIRST ASSIGNMENT QUESTION, YOU MUST MAKE UP A VALUE FOR MARGINAL UTILITY FOR IT TO MAKE ANY SENSE.

1. Assume the price of baseballs is $5 and baseball gloves is $20. Assume you have $100 total to spend on these items. Construct a table similar to the one on page 159. What is the point, based on the Equimarginal Rule, which has equal marginal benefit (or the closest) for the two purchases?

2. The Short Run Average Total Cost (SATC) curve is shaped like _____.  The Long Run Average Total Cost Curve (LATC) is shaped like ____.  What causes the different shapes?

3. Discuss a firm’s objective relative to its economic cost. Describe each of the firm’s economic cost, and whether these would be considered explicit or implicit. What is the difference between an economic profit and an accounting profit, give an example?

4. Critical Thinking: Human beings are odd creatures.  We can predict the negative consequences of certain actions, and yet, we proceed with those actions.  If people were logical and thought long term, no one would eat more doughnuts than fruit, no one would start smoking, no one would fail to save money for their retirement.  So, why do so many people have bad eating habits, addictive behavior, and no savings?  What does neuroscience tell us about this behavior?

I should say what was my favorite movie and why?

I should say what was my favorite movie and why?

Please check my grammar and essay.

From all the movies, I have watched in the past year, “The Salesman” was my favorite movie. “The Salesman” is a thriller and drama film which directed by Asghar Farhadi who is a Persian film director and screenwriter. This movie is captured in Tehran, Iran and its language is Persian but it has English and French subtitles. Shahab Hosseini and Taraneh Alidoosti who are two popular actor and actress in Iran are starring in this movie. This movie won Academy Award for the best foreign language. “The Salesman” is about a married couple, who are amateur actor and actress, are starring in a production of “Death of a Salesman” and how their lives change when they move into a new home that used to be occupied by a prostitute.

Personally, my favorite film genres are drama and thriller, also I like movies which are reflection of the society. So, the first reason that I like this movie is because of the way Mr. Farhadi shows the Persian society. Another reason is because of the performances of Shahab Hosseini that makes “The Salesman” remarkable. There is a connection between this movie and the play “Death of a Salesman”, so if the audience have seen the play “Death of a Salesman”, the movie is more interesting for them. Another thing that I like from this movie is its title which is completely match with the story of film. Furthermore, “The Salesman” is a foreign movie which is worth to watch because it introduces the Persian culture and their society to audience.
