art and history 3

The common theme here for this essay will be style. (review the earlier discussion posting on “Style in Art History” ; another good resource is here: Link (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. For this assignment you must chose TWO (2) works of art to compare; the works must be different in subject matter and media (form or material in other words, for example: sculpture, mosaic, icon painting etc are all different kinds of media). You may also chose architecture ( instead of “subject matter” find two different functions.) They must be similar in style. Choose one common stylistic feature that is shared by the Medieval and the Byzantine artworks you chose. Make sure you have good and clear thesis statement.

The thesis statement is the sentence that states the main idea of a writing assignment and helps control the ideas within the paper. It is not merely a topic. It reflects an opinion or judgment that a writer has made after reading and researching.

What are the common stylistic features of art in Medieval and Byzantine Europe ? How does they differ form one another, how are they similar and how do they differ from the classical world? Post your essay (in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF) where indicated below. At minimum, your essay should be approximately 1000 words. Please note: these are the only acceptable file formats for uploaded written work. PDF is the simplest and I recommend it. If you submit anything in a file that I cannot open, you will not receive a grade and there will be no makeups or re-submission after the deadline.

Your final exam essay will focus on Art of Medieval and Byzantine world.

Description and Analysis of Artworks different in subject matter and media but similar in style:

Choose two works of art to write a comparative essay on style in Medieval and Byzantine art. They must be from two different geographical areas. Include the following identifying information (if available): title, artist, date artwork was created, medium, and culture/period.

Describe, compare and analyze each artwork using at least 3 of the most relevant elements of art and principles of design terms. Take into consideration the artwork’s style based on the readings and utilize relevant vocabulary we have learned. Make sure to write a comparative analysis, not just a description with a short comparison at the end.

Once you briefly describe the work, Integrate your visual analysis into the larger theme of context through comparing and contrasting the three art works. You only need use the textbook and lecture reading, address how the subject and style of each artwork reflect the historical and cultural context of the period. (Please do not google the works you chose and simply copy the information you find; you will receive no points for that. You can use additional research but it must be an appropriate scholarly source, if online, it must be from a website ending in .edu or .org.) Think about the culture in which the work was created. What do the work’s appearance and its choice of art elements and design principles tell us about the cultural beliefs and meaning?

Note: Attached rubric provide an explanation for full or partial credit. If a criteria listed is not addressed, you will receive a zero for that section.

write a coherent essay that addresses three possible interpretations of one of the following suggested myths

See exact paper specifications below! Using correct grammar, complete sentences, and organized paragraphs, write a coherent essay that addresses three possible interpretations of one of the following suggested myths.

First, A. Choose one of the following myths:

1. The story of Achilles (Chs. 4-6; Homer’s Iliad , Quintus Smyrnaeus, and Ovid)

2. The story of Orestes (Ch. 7; Aeschylus’ Oresteia )

3. Odysseus’ last adventures and actions after arriving on Ithaca (Chs. 9-10; Homer’s Odyssey )

4. Stories about any ONE male Olympian (esp. Hesiod’s Theogony, Ch. 11; and relevant texts in Ch. 12)

5. The story of Oedipus and his family (Ch. 14; Sophocles’ Theban plays) **You may suggest a different myth to write about, but you must check it out with me ahead of time! I will NOT allow anyone to write about Persephone and Demeter, since we used that story as a model in Ch. 2.**

Then, B. Choose three of the following or methods of interpretation/analysis to apply to your chosen myth:

a. Etiology/Nature Myth theory (Explanation of a real fact of the natural world)

b. Rationalism/Allegory (Any other interpretation of myth as having “realistic” foundations)

c. Social charter theory (Explanation of a real social institution of ancient times)

d. Ritual theory (Explanation of a real religious ritual performed in ancient times)

e. Structuralism (Analysis of binaries, motifemes, or other sequences of actions rooted in ancient life)

f. Psychology (Freudian or Jungian analysis)

g. Feminism/Gender (Analysis of gender stereotypes, counter-stereotypes, or sexuality) Try to devote at least one full paragraph to each kind of interpretation you choose to include! Make sure to refer back to Ch. 2 of the textbook (and the Powerpoint lecture) to re-acquaint yourself with these modes of analysis. Paper guidelines: Your paper should be 2-3 double-spaced pages in length (i.e., at least 2 full pages, excluding the title page, but not more than 3 full pages). Please include a separate title page on which you list the title of y

Assessment of the organization’s risk management program

Select a health care organization in your community to conduct an interview with an appropriate risk management employee. The organization can be your current employer, or a different health care facility in your community. Acute care, urgent care, large multi-provider private medical clinics, assisted living facilities, and community/public health clinical facilities are all ideal options to complete the requirements of this assignment. Make sure to select an individual who can provide sufficient information regarding how that organization manages risk within its facility to answer the questions below.

In your interview, address the following:

  1. Identification of the challenges the organization faces in controlling infectious diseases.
  2. Risk management strategies used in the organization’s infection control program, along with specific examples.
  3. How the facility’s educational risk management program addresses key professional issues, such as prevention of negligence, malpractice litigation, and vicarious liability.
  4. Policies the facility has implemented that address managing emergency triage in high-risk areas of health care service delivery.
  5. Strategies the facility utilizes to monitor and maintain its risk management program.

Post-interview, compose a 750-1,000 word summary analysis of the interview to include the questions above as well as the following elements:

  1. A brief assessment of the organization’s risk management program, including what works well and what could work better (the pros and cons).
  2. Action steps you would take to improve the program. Select one area and provide your rationale and possible steps required to implement your suggestion.

Data Analysis

For this discussion, you will organize data sets into meaningful number groupings, calculate basic descriptive values, and communicate written critiques of statistical analyses.

This exercise requires the use of a descriptive statistics calculator. You can find this tool in some versions of Excel (as part of the Analysis ToolPak) or you can use one of the many free online descriptive calculators such as the Descriptive Statistics Calculator by Calculator Soup.

To begin, come up with 20 different data points (that will form a set of data) and enter them into the first column of an Excel spreadsheet. The data points can be any numbers you want as long as there are 20 of them.

You will then use the descriptive statistics option in your descriptive statistics program or calculator. This is explained in Chapter 1 of your course text. You should get an output similar to the image in Figure 1.1.

This output must contain the following values: mean, standard error, median, mode, standard deviation, sample variance, kurtosis, skewness, range, minimum, maximum, sum, and count. Address the following points in your initial post:

  • Begin your discussion by reporting your results for each of the values listed above.
  • Based on this output, which single value best describes this set of data and why?
  • If you could pick three of these values instead of only one, which three would you choose and why?

It is important to note that the answers to these questions may be different for each of you since you are each using unique sets of data.

6501 Discussion 5

At least once a year, the media report on a seemingly healthy teenage athlete collapsing during a sports game and dying of heart complications. These incidents continue to outline the importance of physical exams and health screenings for teenagers, especially those who play sports. During these health screenings, examiners check for cardiovascular alterations such as heart murmurs because they can be a sign of an underlying heart disorder. Since many heart alterations rarely have symptoms, they are easy to miss if health professionals are not specifically looking for them. Once cardiovascular alterations are identified in patients, it is important to refer them to specialists who can further investigate the cause.

Consider the following scenario:

A 16-year-old male presents for a sports participation examination. He has no significant medical history and no family history suggestive of risk for premature cardiac death. The patient is examined while sitting slightly recumbent on the exam table and the advanced practice nurse appreciates a grade II/VI systolic murmur heard loudest at the apex of the heart. Other physical findings are within normal limits, the patient denies any cardiovascular symptoms, and a neuromuscular examination is within normal limits. He is cleared with no activity restriction. Later in the season he collapses on the field and dies.

To Prepare

· Review the scenario provided, as well as Chapter 25 in the Huether and McCance text. Consider how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment for the patient.

· Select one of the following patient factors: genetics, ethnicity, or behavior. Reflect on how the factor you selected might impact diagnosis and prescription of treatment for the patient in the scenario.

Post a description of how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment for the patient in the scenario. Then explain how the factor you selected might impact the diagnosis and prescription of treatment for that patient.

What data are needed to fulfill these reporting requirements?
Hospitals must report certain types of information to their state department of health and other state agencies. The specific requirements differ from state to state, and can change over time as well. What remains constant, however, is the need for efficient and accurate methods for meeting these reporting requirements.
To prepare for this Discussion research the statutory requirements for hospital reporting in your state, or another state of interest to you. The National Academy for State Health Policy report in this week’s Learning Resources will provide a good start to your research, but you should do further exploration to fill out your understanding of the state reporting requirements by hospitals in your selected state.
With these requirements in mind, consider the following:
What data are needed to fulfill these reporting requirements?
Select a particular type of hospital, such as a small community hospital or a large urban facility within a multi-state hospital system, and identify challenges this institution might encounter in complying with these requirements.
Review the health information systems you have learned about so far in this course, and do further exploration, as needed, to identify systems that would help in capturing, processing, and providing the data required for those reports.
Post by Day 4 a response to the following:
Summarize the state’s reporting requirements for hospitals.
Analyze challenges that these requirements might pose to your selected type of hospital.
Propose which hospital IT systems might be used to produce the data necessary for these reports. If multiple systems could be used, select which one you think is best and state why.
Briefly, describe at least one way in which these reporting requirements contribute to the public’s health, and one way in which this reporting benefitsthe organization providing the data.
