short Autobiography

I’m studying and need help with a Writing question to help me learn.

Write your own personal “mathematics biography”. Describe your struggles and what or who was helpful to you. This is meant to help you explore your “starting” position.

Lived Experiences Affect/Emotions Thinking Beliefs

  • Describe what makes a math class boring or interesting.
  • What are your attitudes towards math? What kinds of feelings (for example: competence, shame, awe, anxiety) do you associate with mathematics? What are your math experiences (both good and bad)?
  • **What is “math” to you? This could be a definition or a feeling or both.
  • What has helped you learn math in the past?
  • What year in school was math best and worst for you? What made it a good year in terms of math?
  • Was math ever your favorite subject? If so, when was it? What about math made it your favorite? If math has never been your favorite subject, what about it do you not like?
  • Sometimes a teacher, grown up, or older child can help you like or understand math better. Did that ever happen to you? If so, tell about it. If not, tell about how that would have made a difference for you.
  • Sometimes people can recognize a time when their opinion of math dramatically changed either for the better or the worse. If such a time happened for you or for a friend of yours, tell about it. If you did not experience such a thing, tell about your steady feelings about mathematics.
  • Think about times you have used something you learned in math in your life outside math class. List some of those times when you used math outside of school.
  • Please comment particularly on your experiences in taking math content courses at the university level. Describe the classroom environment, the role of the teacher and how you participated. If you have not taken any math content courses, please state this and describe what you think it will be like.
  • Any other comments/ideas that you have regarding your life and mathematics would be appropriate.

Hello, I am looking for someone to write an article on Implications for Social Policy in an Age of Austerity. It needs to be at least 2000 words.

Hello, I am looking for someone to write an article on Implications for Social Policy in an Age of Austerity. It needs to be at least 2000 words. Governments and monetary bodies take to such measures to cut on the expenditures they incur and reduce the expanding budget scarcities. All these measures, eventually, have an impact on the socio-economic environment. Social policy has been identified as the need to alter the social order by trying to modify the market forces in place and redistributing some of the resources an economy possesses (Krugman 2012). This paper will examine some of the implications, and how governments are handling the situations in their countries.

Governments around the world are looking out for the interests of their nations by implementing some of these measures. However, many economists believe that these strategies and policies might damage the social environment, in the long run. The future of economies, around the world, is at the mercy of these policies and strategies (Kilkey, Ramia & Farnsworth 2012). The austerity policies might be reducing the deficit budgets that these economies have suffered. However, many folks believe that the scarring effects in the many regions where these cuts occur will be much worse (Pierson 2001). This is the problem with looking at the situation for the short term period the economies are facing (Exadaktylos & Zahariadis 2012).

Britain is a perfect example of a nation that is experiencing these policies. Greece is known to owe Germany a tremendous debt and is also implementing these strategies. These strategies come with a number of implications in the manner and way of life of individuals in these regions (Pierson 2001). One of the ways folks may be affected is through the medical care they receive. The governments in many regions, especially first world countries, offer their citizens universal medical cover. The quality of this insurance cover may reduce, thus. prove a daunting task to acquire the most basic medical attention (Kilkey, Ramia & Farnsworth 2012).

In many areas, this may not be a problem.&nbsp.

Media Consumption Reflection 4

4646 unread replies.4747 replies.

Review the directions under Course Materials before submitting this assignment!

For today’s reflection, you must analyze any media item – using OBJECTIFICATION and Ethnicity in the last two paragraphs Full Credit = 35 points:

    • Embeded media item directly into post (using the canvas “insert/edit media” tool above), 5 points
    • 1 paragraph description of chosen media = 10 points (See assignment handout for how to do this!)
    • 2 paragraphs of analysis = 10 points
      • These must be substantial paragraphs – with a topic sentence, and well-argued points. Don’t try breaking one good paragraph into two bad ones. Short, two-or-three sentence paragraphs won’t receive full credit.
      • Each of the two analysis paragraphs must have ONE term/concept (including the assigned term for that week’s MCR if applicable), from class list underlined.
      • Remember – two vocab terms – *One within each of your analysis paragraphs* (not within your description)
    • Comment *thoughtfully and substantially* (at least three sentences *that move the discussion forward*) on at least two of your classmates’ posts = 10 points

Start your post with a greeting that uses your classmate’s name (required). Say something meaningful about whatever your classmate has written in their MCR. This is not the place to simply agree and say “good job” to your classmate, (you are encouraged to do that – but it is not sufficient for points). If you agree with what they said, say so, then add something new that they didn’t mention. If you disagree, say so (respectfully) and let us know why. Or tell us something altogether new about the topic.

  • Be sure that your first comment is on a post that has no comments on it yet (if one exists at the time you post).
  • Remember to begin your feedback comments with a greeting that includes the student’s name, so I know who you’re addressing as I view your work in the gradebook.
  • How To Do Your Media Consumption Reflections (MCRs)

You will analyze and write about ten (10) of your media consumption experiences this semester, as follows:

Choose a media item you have recently consumed.

With the exception of the first two MCRs (when you must choose to analyze advertisements), and the third MCR (when you must choose a news item to analyze), your chosen media could be anything with relevance to this class: a television show, a news broadcast, a song, an article, a book, an advertisement, etc.Over the semester, choose a variety of different types of media to analyze.

1st Paragraph: Tell us about the item you’re discussing. Describe it. (ie: name, title, what it is, etc.)

        • Embed the item you are discussing within your description. You can embed the item itself, its website, or an article about it. For example, if your media item is a movie, you could embed the movie website or a trailer for the movie.
        • Describe the circumstances under which you consumed the media artifact. In a movie theater with friends? Alone at home on television? While driving, or reading your class homework? Etc.=

2nd and 3rd Paragraphs: Write at least two paragraphs (beyond the description) discussing your media item.

        • Use two of the vocabulary terms, ideas, and/or concepts we are exploring in class (one term per paragraph) – and underline them when you mention them. If there is an assigned term for that week’s MCR, you must use that term as one of your underlined words.
        • Underline one term per paragraph, one time and discuss it fully.
        • The underlined terms must be within your analysis/reflection paragraphs, not within your description paragraph.
          • You must discuss each term you underline. So you may NOT simply say something like: “This is clearly an example of racism and objectification,” and then leave it at that. You have to say why you feel that way. What about that piece of media specifically makes you draw those conclusions?
        • Critically analyze how your term applies, and comment upon what is being communicated about race, gender, sexuality, social class, etc. Your analysis must relate to the class themes of race, gender, sex, class, etc. If you are unsure about how to do a media analysis, consult the Media Education Foundation’s guides for analyzing ads:
          1. Deconstructing a Print Advertisement (Links to an external site.)
          2. Deconstructing a Video Advertisement: (Links to an external site.)
        • Let me know why you chose this particular item to write about, how it relates to our class discussion or readings, and what you personally think/feel about it.
        • I will be looking for personal experiences, insights, and critical thinking as you share your experiences.
        • If you’re analyzing an advertisement (required for your first two reflections – optional after that), be sure to use the 4 step MEF method learned in class (and described below) for analyzing an ad.

Model Lesson Plan

SIOP Model Lesson Plan

Using your SIOP Model Planning Sheet, in addition to your instructor’s feedback on this assignment from Week 4, you will be transforming an ordinary lesson plan into a SIOP lesson plan that will meet the diverse needs of ELLs by applying the knowledge you have learned throughout this course. Your lesson plan must have evidence for each component of the SIOP Model: lesson preparation, building background, comprehensible input, strategies, interaction, practice/application, lesson delivery, and review/assessment.

Step One:

You will be using the same lesson plan to modify that you selected in Week 4 during your planning stage:

  • First Grade Math: A lesson on Symmetry
  • Third Grade Science: A lesson on Magnets
  • Fourth Grade Social Studies: A lesson on the Algonquian Way of Life
  • Fifth Grade English Language Arts: A lesson of Different Genres ( attach below)

Step Two:You will use the following SIOP Model Lesson Plan Template (attach below) to complete your modified lesson plan and to ensure that all eight components of the SIOP model are evident in your lesson plan. Feel free to review the videos on the 8 components of the SIOP Model from Week 4’s assignment for additional support.

Step Three:You are going to describe two additional instructional accommodations or modifications that you would specifically provide for your chosen case study student. This section is clearly marked in your SIOP Model Lesson Plan Template. Be sure to use evidence from the text and one additional scholarly sources to support your reasons for the accommodations or modifications you recommend for your case study student.

Choose one of the case study students below to make those specific accommodations or modifications in meeting their individual needs.

Lupe: Lupe has lived in a suburban, middle-class city in the United States for 10 years. She is able to speak Spanish at home, but she is unable to read or write in her first language. She was in bilingual classes in for the first two years of elementary school and is now mainstreamed, although her English is not completely fluent. She has basic interpersonal communication skills (BICS) and struggles with cognitive academic language proficiency (CALP). She is friendly and cooperative when she is in class, but she doesn’t do homework. She seems to prefer talking with friends to completing assignments. Teachers think she has academic potential, but worry that she will eventually drop out of school because of persistent underachievement. According to the Stages of Second Language Acquisition, she exhibits speech emergence in reading, writing, and listening/speaking.

Hui:Hui came from Vietnam, where he worked with his uncle in the marketplace, selling watches before immigrating to the United States last year. He is living in a low-SES ethnic enclave in an urban city with a lot of immigrants from Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. He had about four years of full-time schooling in Vietnam and is proficient in his first language. He did really well in school until he moved to the United States as a refugee. He does really well in math but is failing his language arts classes. His attendance has also been intermittent as he gets sick a lot. He is the smallest boy in class and does not talk very much. He does not have basic interpersonal communication skills (BICS) or cognitive academic language proficiency (CALP). According to the stages of second language acquisition , he is at early production stage in reading, writing, and listening/speaking.

Sara: Sara has lived in the United States for six months. She comes from an upper class family. She was born in Germany and speaks German fluently and proficiently. Her father is in the United States for business reasons. They plan on moving back to Germany in three years, when the contract expires. Sara aims to please, but does not initiate conversations with other students. She was educated in her home country and, in fact, studied some English as a foreign language in school. Her teachers are pleased with her work, given the limited time she has been in this country. According to the stages of second language acquisition, she exhibits intermediate fluency in in listening/speaking and continued language development in reading and writing.

Step Four:Reflect on the following question: Do you think the SIOP model is realistic for teachers to follow? Why or why not? Be specific by providing at least two reasons for your opinion. Be sure to provide evidence from the text and/or scholarly source to validate your reasoning. For help with completing the Final Project, please review the SIOP Model Lesson Plan Template Tip Sheet. (attach below)

Your SIOP Model Lesson Plan should be 5 pages long. Please include an APA formatted title page and cite and reference your sources. Be sure that your in-text citations and references reflect APA formatting. Use this link from Ashford’s Writing Center to support you:

Read the following excerpt and answer questions 7 and 8 below.

CSR and Boral have announced the intention to form a joint venture of Australian east coast brick operations, citing reduced brick usage as a major cause for consolidation. The companies have proposed to combine brick operations in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT. The move is subject to clearance by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). A joint statement from the companies explains brick demand in Australia has experienced a sustained structural decline, with bricks becoming an increasingly smaller component of the broader cladding market. Despite a general increase in construction activity over this period, total brick production in Australia has fallen by 46 per cent from its peak in 1981, according to Boral and CSR.David Wheeldon

7. Using the concept of economies of scale, explain why the two companies MUST merge due to the significant fall in demand (start by explaining why CSR and Boral were able to operate as separate companies before the fall in demand). For this question, assume that CSR and Boral are the only two companies in the market and form an oligopoly (Hint: think about the cost curves and the market demand curve)? As part of this question you need to draw and explain the appropriate graph that outlines the argument in support of the merger.

8. If the joint venture is allowed to proceed, how would you describe the new market? What would be the impact on price, quantity and profit? Explain using a graph.

What is the sound corresponding to the letter quot;tquot; in this word?

  1. What is the sound corresponding to the letter “t” in this word?

a. This sound is an alveolar flap (or tap) and the IPA character is [ɾ], although sometimes the character [d] is used because the phoneme /d/ is pronounced the same way in words like ladder.

b. This sound is a voiceless alveolar stop and the IPA character is [t], even though the vocal cords are vibrating, as they are with the sound [d].

c. This sound is a voiced aspirated alveolar stop, for which the IPA character is [ɗ].

d. This sound is an unreleased voiceless alveolar stop and the IPA character is [t̪]. There is no voicing.

2. The letter “t” can correspond to several different sounds, as illustrated by the pronunciation of the phrase “at her,” as in the ordinary casual-speech pronunciation in American English of “I was looking at her.” This is the same sound that is found in water. In both cases, and in all cases where this sound is encountered, it immediately precedes an unstressed syllable (see also: butter, batter, data, gotta, petal, and countless other words). The sounds that are characteristically represented by the letter “t” (either double or single) also include an aspirated voiceless stop, which occurs as the first sound of a stressed syllable as in talk and attain, as well as an unreleased alveolar stop or glottal stop just before a syllabic alveolar nasal, as in button, kitten, Latin and countless other words.

In the English writing system these different sounds are all typically represented by the letter “t” rather than by other letters that might better signal the differences between them because they [ Select ] [a.”get represented by different letters only in languages with syllabaries”, b.”don’t all occur in British English”, c.”are all allophones of the phoneme/t/”] and alphabetic writing systems [ Select ]  [a. “are designed to have letters represent phonemes”, b. “don’t have enough characters available to represent all the sounds”, c. “are only used for languages that don’t have lots of allophones for most phonemes”]            .

Draw two diagrams for a constant-cost industry, two diagrams for an increasing-cost industry, and two diagrams for a decreasing-cost industry. Total of six diagrams. For each type of industry, you should have a diagram on the left-hand side of your paper for a single business firm and a diagram on the right-hand side of your paper for the overall market. Show all of the short-run and long-run adjustments that will occur (other things equal) in response to a DECREASE in consumer demand for the good or service being provided. (In class we discussed adjustments in response to an INCREASE in consumer demand.) For each type of industry, make sure that the diagram for the overall market includes a long-run supply curve as well as short-run supply curves.
