A. If Transylvania has an inflationary gap, what fiscal policies should Igor”s economists propose? B. If Transylvania has a deflationary gap, what fiscal policies should Igor”s economists propose? C. Because the legislature decides to meet only at night, it takes a year to get a fiscal policy in place in Transylvania. Suppose that Igor”s economists predict that next year, without any government policy, Transylvania will have a deflationary gap. The government passes a fiscal policy that is designed to correct a deflationary gap. However, the prediction is incorrect and without any government policy Transylvania actually will have full employment. What happens when the fiscal policy takes effect? D. As Igor is sent packing back to his night job, explain to him what other factors might have hindered the success of fiscal policy.

Unit VIII Course Project

When you evaluated (rated/assessed) each of the seven dimensions of wellness in the Unit II Homework, you asked yourself, “On a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the best), how do I feel about…” For each of the seven dimensions, you assigned yourself a score (or you need to now). Click here to access the “Seven Dimensions of Wellness” document for your review. You are now going to use that score/evaluation to discuss the “big picture of you.” Feel free to be as creative as you like.

Discuss the following components for EACH of the seven dimensions of wellness:

1. Indicate your score and describe what led you to that decision.

2. What was your specific goal from the Unit II Homework? Is it a realistic and achievable goal? Have you started working on your goal yet? If yes, are you making progress? If no, why not?

3. Describe one aspect of which you are particularly proud, and something that you would like to improve about yourself. (Use examples if possible.)

4. Provide a concluding paragraph at the end of your assignment. Summarize/reflect how you think you are doing overall, considering all seven dimensions of wellness.

There are millions of people who are in love and in pain because their love is not returned. Chances are, several people you know are going through the painful process of falling out of love. Falling out of love is usually a natural, although painful, process. Most people can and do fall out of love without help. Time heals, they meet other people, and their lives go on. On the other hand, for some of us the loss of a love can be almost overwhelming—an obsession, an intense, enduring, immobilizing pain.

In order to “fall out of love,” first and foremost, we need to realize that “falling in love” is not a rational process. It’s not planned or reasoned. It is an intense emotional and intuitive experience. A lot of it is magic and chemistry. Because falling in love is emotionally learned, it has to be emotionally unlearned if you are going to fall out of love. That is why insights, rational thinking, and exploring the reasons you fell in love are all inefficient and ineffective. The whys of your love can be intriguing, but it is unlikely that knowing them will help you stop the pain of being in love with someone who does not love you. You need to ask yourself if you want to stop the pain, and the way you stop that pain is not by talking about it or by looking for insights. It is by dealing with that pain in a direct, systematic way. (Phillips, pp.19; 24)

The central thought of this paragraph is that

A) everyone naturally heals from the loss of love

B) love is not a rational feeling; it is emotionally learned and therefore must be emotionally unlearned.

C) for those whose love is not returned, there is no healing process.

For this assignment, you are to watch the video below. The video illustrates a flashover in the mid-80s. Although it is an older video, it shows a narrow wood-frame structure where a salamander kerosene heater in the hallway started a fire that developed from ignition to a fully-developed fire after a flashover. Please do not critique the tactics or the protective clothing worn in that era. However, focus on the combustion as an exothermic chemical reaction between a fuel (wood frame structure with wood bead board interior and kerosene) and an oxidizer, resulting in the generation of substantive heat that lead to a flashover.

BackgroundIt was a cold winter night with temperatures dropping in the low 30s. The homeowner was using a salamander kerosene heater, which was common for that time, to stay warm. During the morning he turned off the heat and filled the heater with more kerosene. As he filled the heater, some kerosene spilled on the wood floor. The heat from the heater burning all night cause the fuel to vaporize more than usual on a cold day, and when he lit the heater it flashed, igniting the spilled kerosene. Within three minutes from time of dispatch, the Orlando Fire Department was on the scene with an engine company and a truck company. The truck company split into two crews (inside and outside) to perform truck functions. The engine crews were just making entry into the structure (about 2 feet inside the front door) when the flashover occurred.

Apply what you learned from the video using concepts from Chapters 7, 8, and 12 to describe the fire. Discuss what led to the flashover. For example, was there enough heat generated by the combustion (oxidation) process to ignite other materials. If so, at what point? Was there fire plume under the ceiling? Was there filling of the fire compartment by smoke? What was the smoke flow from the compartment regarding any opening? What was the smoke movement?

Summarize your responses in a minimum of two pages in length.

To supplement your discussion and support your conclusions, you may use information from reputable, reliable journal articles, case studies, scholarly papers, and other sources that you feel are pertinent. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations in proper APA style.

The purpose of this assignment is for you to apply the concepts and knowledge you learned in this unit on the surveillance of the stages of fire in the video. Also, this provides you with the opportunity to use your skills, expertise, and experience to enrich your response.Information about accessing the Blackboard Grading Rubric for this assignment is provided below.

  • Critical Thinking Forum – Using Economic Science to Understand.

The organizational theme of this course has been the use of critical thinking to understand the world. This ongoing process is scientific in orientation in requiring the propositions be subject to the two-fold test of logic and empirical examination. The former requires the use of economic models to trace out logical causality and the role that policy can play in shaping outcomes. The later requires the use of primary data to explore changes in relationships. Note that critical thinking does not involve searching the internet for links to reaffirm particular belief structures. The internet is full of sites with disinformation packets, complete with simple slogans, charts, pictures, etc., produced to create and perpetuate belief systems that advance the agenda of vested interests.

Sebastian has added what was the radio to the shambles that was the television. Oh well, with so much homework to do there is no time for television or radio! You find Sebastian in the office nook studying the computer screen. You look over his shoulder and see he has discovered Facebook, through which he scrolls with incredible speed, his eye moving in a circular pattern as he speed reads. Realizing you are with him he jumps with a start: “Oh earthling, finally, finally, maybe, just maybe, I have discovered truth!” You look back at ruble that was the television and radio and start thinking about the computer’s future. “Earthling, look at this Facebook message. Lots of people have been re-posting it. It says ‘Everyone with half a brain knows – just knows – that if the government would reduce spending on everything – everything – except military spending, the deficit would be reduced thus stimulating the economy and creating full employment.’ And look, you can make this true by clicking like!”

Use some economic science, empirical data and economic history to better help Sebastian understand the veracity of this Facebook message.
