proportion of milk and fruit: one glass always comes with five strawberries.

(a)

Plot in a diagram Trevors’ preferences. Depict three indifference curves that pass

through the following bundles (5,1), (10,10) and (15,4). What is the MRS at each

of these points?

(b)

What utility function represents these preferences?

(c)

Indicate the leve of utility corresponding to each indifference curve from your draw-

ing in part a.

(d)

Multiply your utility function by 10 and add 2 to it. How does the map of indif-

ference curves change? Explain why. How was the level of utility associated with

each indifference curve affected?

(e)

Trevor spends $100 per month on his favorite milkshake and pays $1 for a glass of

milk and $1 for each strawberry (they are organic). Find Trevor’s demand for milk

and strawberries and depict it on the graph.

(f)

The organic strawberries are replaced by genetically modified ones. These are, on

average, 2.5 times larger. Consequently, the optimal proportion of milk to straw-

berry becomes 1:2. Plot the indifference curves for milk and genetically modified

strawberries. Write down a utility function that represents them.

MISS PROFESSOR ONLY

This week, you’ll be exploring wellness through the Interdisciplinary Lens of Environmental Studies, which include urban design, public planning, and the environment. You’ll be taking a look at the environmental aspects of wellness, such as food deserts, urban design for walking and biking, air/noise/chemical pollution, and urban gardening. Something that I think you’ll really enjoy is taking a look at your won neighborhood and surrounding city with regard to environmental factors related to wellness and then connect them to the eight dimensions of wellness that we have been discussing this course. I always find this exercise interesting both personally and academically because of the eye opening that it promotes. Many students are surprised at how “unlivable” or “unwalkable” their communities are. This really does create a sense of awareness as we continue to examine how “well” our lives are.

FOR LOUISVILLE KY!!

Based on this week’s material and your own relevant research, how would you rate your own neighborhood and the city/town that surrounds it with regard to the concepts presented in this week’s module? Discuss as many environmental factors as possible in your analysis.

M 2 Dis Board: Cliches ONE PAGE

For this discussion board, you will identify 3 cliches or idioms that you use frequently in your written or oral communication.  A cliche is a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought.  An example of a cliche is “clear as a bell.”  Many English speakers who were raised in the United States understand this cliche, but it makes no sense when taken literally and could confuse non-native, but fluent English speakers.

In nearly all cases, cliches should be avoided in business communication.

For this discussion board you will do the following:

  1.  Identify 3 cliches you use that should always be avoided in business communication.  You may not use “clear as a bell” in your response.
  1. Rewrite the identified cliches using professional business language.  For example, “clear as a bell” could be rewritten as “The data presented in the report is conclusive.”

Case study Discussion

Instructions: Discuss Psychoeducation: Teaching Skills for Special Populations.

To fulfill the requirements for this discussion, you will need to read the case study “Working with a Person with HIV” on page 403 in your text and respond to the following questions: (Goldenberg, Irene. Family Therapy: An Overview (p. 403). Cengage Learning.)

“Working with a Person with HIV”

Sergei is a 17-year-old illegal immigrant from Russia. A week ago, he was admitted to a hospital after overdosing on heroin. He also had been attacked and sustained multiple stab wounds, although none were life-threatening, and the wounds are healing well. A nurse tells you that Sergei was accompanied to the hospital by a young man who told the staff that Sergei recently had been diagnosed with HIV. She did not know if the young man was Sergei’s friend, boyfriend, or partner. A meeting has been planned that will include Sergei and his parents to discuss the young man’s needs regarding-drug use and HIV status. In advance of the meeting, you learn from Sergei’s mother that although she and her husband will attend the meeting, the father has more or less disowned his son. You meet Sergei in the hospital a few days before the family meeting. He strikes you as angry, even nasty. Initially you are repelled by him, but you don’t know why. He tells you nothing at all about himself and rather curtly dismisses you. He says he wants to get out of the hospital. When you mention the upcoming meeting with his parents, he flies into a rage and tells you he absolutely won’t participate. (Goldenberg, Irene. Family Therapy: An Overview (p. 403). Cengage Learning.)

  1. What needs might Sergei or his family have as illegal immigrants that are relevant to his present circumstances?
  2. What might you need to do in advance of meeting with Sergei and his family regarding their immigration status?
  3. How might you help Sergei and his family work with his HIV status? What cultural, social, language, and medical issues do you anticipate?
  4. What are the educational needs of Sergei and his family? Identify and discuss at least 2 psychoeducation teaching strategies you would use to promote knowledge and understanding.

Need help with my Accounting question – I’m studying for my class.

Research a small business you would like to work for some day. Based on your research, estimate what you think could reasonably be its income, liabilities, assets, and capital. Record this information in a balance sheet for the company. If you are unfamiliar with business you may wish to interview several small business owners and discuss what is involved in owning and operating their business, including the types of expenses that would be typical for that business in your area.

When starting a new business you will need to determine both the capital asset requirements and routine operating costs of the business. Capital assets include land, buildings, operating equipment, vehicles, furniture and fixtures and office equipment. Inventory is not a capital asset but is generally required for most businesses.

Consider and discuss how you will finance your new business. Remember that banks and other creditors will generally not loan money for operating costs or inventory. Creditors also set limits on how much they will loan to a new business and generally expect the owners to provide more than half the capital required to start a business.

Provide a 5 pages analysis while answering the following question: A Good Policy to Reduce the Green House Gas. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required. To address pollution and VMT, the Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act Of 2008, Senate Bill 375 (SB 375), was passed and signed by Governor Schwarzenegger (Rodier, Caroline 63).

It is designed to help the state reduce greenhouse gas emissions by first ensuring that greenhouse emission gas emissions reduction targets set by Assembly Bill 32 (AB 32) are achieved. These will be implemented by creating incentives for smarter and resource-efficient land use and transportation planning and implementation.SB 375 needs the California ARB (Air Resource Board) to set GHC aims for 2020 to 2035 for each of the sectors covered by the biggest 18 Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPOs) within California and for each MPO to adopt a “sustainable communities strategy” that specifies how the reduction targets will be achieved (Air resource board 15). In the paper, the analysis of two specific strategies to reduce emissions will be analyzed to estimate VMT and GHCs emission reduction rates. The Bike Share program strategies to address the last mile problem and road and parking pricing (Rodier, Caroline 70).

A good policy to reduce GHGs emissions and VMT provides regulatory certainty to motivate and promote innovations and investments in reducing greens house gas emissions (Cervero, Robert, Duncan 101). A good policy should address both short-term and long-term measures to reduce emissions and be economically viable.SB 375 is a good policy for reducing GHGs and VMT because it has the attributes of a good policy and has been implemented in parts of the world. hence, it is landmark legislation (Davis 89). However, the legislation has several weaknesses, such as it does not impose heavy penalties for non-compliance and gives weak incentives and rewards for compliance. Better incentives and heavy penalties for non-compliance are needed for large reductions in emissions and to motivate new investment patterns.
