data visualization 3

  1. Read “Data Visualization 101: How to Design Charts and Graphs” (posted on Blackboard).
  2. Using Excel, and your completed Excel assignment, create 3 charts: a bar, line, and pie chart. Use any data you choose from the file that is appropriate for the type of graph you are creating. (9 points: 3 points for each chart). Considerations:
    1. Choose what data you want to represent. You must make a decision about what to show and how to display it. The data you choose to display directly must make sense and fit the chart you choose to use to display it.
    2. Utilizing Excel, input the data you are going to display (unless you’re using an already summarized pivot table). It can be from the detail sheet, pivot tables, scenario manager, goal seek, or any other new summary table that you create in order to make an appropriate chart. Edit the visual parameters of the data to make the information you want to express clearly visible. Your final visualization should have axes and categories clearly labeled.
  3. Place all of your charts on one sheet and name the sheet ‘Chart Assignment’. Make sure this sheet is the first sheet in the workbook. (1 point)
  4. Upload completed file to Blackboard.

+2 Bonus:

Create a bubble chart using the data from your Excel homework. It must be appropriate data for a bubble chart and make sense!
