Your creative text should be a video blog, podcast, poem, play manuscript, painting, or work of art (any medium). Creative texts which do not include actual text (language, either spoken or written) will also include a written explication. So, you may choose to create a painting or a piece of needlework, write a story, or any other approved creative endeavor.
Your creative text must specifically engage with at least one of our core course themes: REPRESENTATION, TREATMENT, or CONTROL—and the theme of our first unit: women in popular media (again, for the assignment you may choose women in video games, but you can choose to expand to other media as well). Your project must contain a minimum of 500 written or spoken words. If you choose to create an art object without text, you will write a 500 word explication—and explanation of
how this piece comments on our course material and engages with the ideas directly. Your written text will accompany the more creative piece. If you choose a creative text that includes language, the same 500 word minimum applies. And, you must make explicit how the text engages with the course content.
