It is unbelievable at how fast these eight weeks have gone by. I have learned so much from this course. One of the first things
that stood out was there is a rationale behind the tasks my organization had requested nurses to incorporate in the care of patients.
Throughout this course, there were those “ah” moments. For example, the Institute of Medicine recommendations. Now, these tasks
make sense for the care we give. The second is how each week built upon the last lesson, how as a nurse we evolve. In the
beginning, with stress management and self-care, I will be able to accomplish my goal of becoming a baccalaureate nurse. The
interview I conducted inspired me. She was very encouraging and shared her insights. Making my goal of becoming a baccalaureate
nurse possible. The development plan will be used as a guide to stay on course and to make an impact on my career.
I am challenged by the ethical and moral dilemmas. It is a topic no one wants to discuss. Learning to communicate and listen
will make an impact. Open discussions among team members, patient and patient’s family will help guide us through these
challenges. The American Nurses Association Code of Ethics help guide the decision we make; keeping in line with being
patient center. Evidence base medicine continues to ensure I provide the best care and treatment options for my patients. Through
culture of safety, I became passionate on the care I give to my patients.
Throughout this course, I have been able to share the things I have learned with my co-workers. I have implemented some
of my goals, from my development plan, with the help of my director. It has ignited a spark in my nursing career.
The forums are a great learning tool. Learning that other nurses are facing the same issues or thoughts as I help calm the fears of
going back to school. My classmates shared different ways to look at a situation. With these shared ideas, the realization that many
situations can be resolved and treated with different “lens.”
